What neutral configurations are available for ASCO Transfer Switches?
ASCO Transfer Switches offer different neutral configurations for different types of applications needed by the customer. Please see the different neutral configurations and their description below.

1. Solid Neutral
For Solid Neutral applications, the neutral conductor of the Emergency source is bonded to the neutral conductor of the Normal source using a solid neutral plate mounted within the ATS.

2. Switched Neutral
For Switched Neutral applications, an extra pole is used to allow either the Normal or Emergency source neutral to be connected to the load neutral. The switching contacts are often described as “break-before-make”, which results in a momentary interruption of power.

3. Overlapping Neutral
For Overlapping Neutral applications, transferring load between separately derived systems without interrupting neutral connectivity. These contacts operate in a “make-before-break” sequence to momentarily connect the Normal and Emergency neutral conductors, but the phase conductors still provide load break operation.
