How to set the engine exerciser on Series 4000/7000 Transfer Switch with a Group 5 Controller?

The Engine Exerciser can be set from the Group 5 Controller’s Power Control Center Keypad & Display

Navigating screen to go to Settings Engine Exerciser (follow red markings on Figure 2 for reference)
  1. From the Home/Status Screen, Press Enter
  2. Using Right/Left Arrow Keys, look for Settings Engine Exerciser, Press Enter
  3. As it asks for Password, Enter Default Password: 1111, Press Enter

ASCO Series 4000/7000 Automatic Transfer Switch uses a Group 5 Controller.
ASCO Group 5 Controller has a Programmable Engine Exerciser with seven(7) independent routines to exercise an engine-generator, with or without loads, on daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly frequency.
Present date and time would also be set under the Settings Engine Exerciser.



Engine Exerciser Settings
The Engine Exerciser settings are set at factory to the default values.

8 Engine Exerciser Settings Menu
Present Date/Time- This display allows the user to change the controller date and time.
Program Display
P1, P2, P3,… P7 = Program Number 1,2,3….up to Program Number 7
These displays from P1 through P7 allow the user to set the controller’s seven independent engine exerciser routines. Each routine function in the same manner. Six parameters need to be configured for each routine. (P1 to P7).
Enable -  YES enables the routine; NO turns it Off
(Tip: if you need to disable a program, you need to set it to Enable NO)

wLoad – YES transfers load to Emergency during exercise period;
NO does not transfer load to Emergency during the exercise period.

Start – sets when the exercise period will start.
time (hour, minute)  24-hour format
example display: 10h56 (10:56 AM)
week (ALL, ALT, 1ST, 2ND, 3RD, 4TH, or 5TH week)
ALL- all week of the month; ALT- alternate or every other week;
1ST, 2ND, 3RD, 4TH or 5TH – selects a certain week of the month
day of the week (MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SAT or SUN)

Run Time- duration or length of time that the generator will run.
(hour, minute) example display: 0h10min

To start adjusting the parameters, Press Enter.
When a parameter flashes, use the up-down arrow key to adjust the setting.
Press Enter, to skip to different parameters.
When done, Press Enter once more to save the settings.
Parameters should all solid, it indicates that all changes were saved.
Press Escape to go back to Home/Status screen.
