What if the connection fails during setup of the Schneider Energy Monitor?

If you have trouble connecting, first walk through the following steps. If you complete these steps and the connection still fails, please walk through them again as sometimes it can take multiple tries to successfully connect.

 

At your electrical panel, switch off the breaker connected to your Schneider Energy Monitor. Leave it off for 5 seconds then switch it back to ON.

In the iOS/Android mobile device Settings, turn off Bluetooth.

Restart your mobile phone.

Return to Settings in your mobile phone and turn the Bluetooth back on.

Attempt to connect to your Schneider Energy Monitor using the Smart Panel Setup app. You and your iOS/Android mobile device must remain 5 - 15 feet from the Schneider Energy Monitor while the connection attempt proceeds.

If there is no connection, repeat these steps.

If you find the system is unable to move past the "Scanningā€¦" installation screen, there are other things to check:

 

Ensure the Schneider Energy Monitor antenna is securely installed outside of your electrical panel.

Ensure that the coaxial cable fitting that goes into the monitor is tightly secured.

Double-check that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone or tablet.

If you're on Android, also check that Location Services are enabled (after successful setup, you can disable this function).

If you're on iOS, Bluetooth may need to be configured at the general level and at the device level.

Now, re-cycle the Bluetooth

Complete this setup right after the re-cycle, because the Monitor's Bluetooth transceiver is only operational for 15 minutes after it boots.

Remain 5-15 feet from your Schneider Energy Monitor during the entire process.

At the electrical panel, turn off the power breaker that connects to the Monitor.

Wait 5 seconds, and then turn the breaker back on.

Still not connecting?

Here are more actions you can perform to try to help the connection:

 

Temporarily disconnect from any other Bluetooth devices, such as smart watches or speakers.

Close and reopen the Smart Panel Setup app.

Reboot your phone.

Ensure Bluetooth permission is enabled for the Smart Panel Setup app specifically.

Ensure the Schneider Energy Monitor unit is powered by checking that the lights on the Monitor are on (they can be hard to see, so you may want to look directly into the ports).

If necessary, repeat these steps using a different phone or tablet.

When you contact us, we need to know your Schneider Energy Monitor serial number. This 10-character number starts with a N, M or W. It can be found on the bottom of the box the monitor came in, or on the Schneider Energy Monitor itself.
