Issue:
Why does the ATS22 soft starter cost less than the ATS48?
Product Line:
Altistart 22 and Altistart 48 Soft Starters
Environment:
All
Cause:
Curious about price difference between models of Soft Starters
Resolution:
The ATS22 is generally priced lower than the same amperage rated ATS48.
The ATS48 is a more robust soft starter that can handle a wide range of applications. Adding a shorting contactor is recommended for all applications.
The ATS22 soft starter is not as robust, but does include an internal shorting contactor. It is ideal for variable torque fan and pump applications. It can also be used on constant torque applications with starting amps less than 3.5X the ATS22 rating. It is not recommend for heavy loaded or heavy duty constant torque applications.
