73xx v285 Firmware Release Notes

Product Line
ION73xx

Environment
Firmware

Resolution
This document outlines all the fixes completed for v285 firmware on the 73xx platform.

Goals and Symptoms

The v285 firmware release was prompted by a critical defect detected in the field. Description to follow.

Symptoms: The critical defect is found in the 7350s waveform capture function. When measuring currents 1.6A or above, all 7350s show a random, often large, DC Offset in the third current phase (I3), waveform capture. The defect is only found on 7350 meters and is confined to I3 current phase, waveform capture only.

Causes and Fixes

Fix: The defect's root cause was isolated and found to be a compiler error. The defect was logged as SCR515. The v285 Firmware Release addressed this defect along with several others which are detailed below.

The following Known Issues were issues logged against the 73xx family prior to this release. They are verified to be fixed as a result of work done in firmware release v285.

SCR434: MU Outputs do not update properly

MU values do not update properly. If you apply power in single element mode and watch the kW outputs of the MU power meter module, then turn the power source outputs off, the kW MU power meter module registers do not go to 0; they hold their old values.

SCR515: DC Offset in I3 Waveform in second gain stage on v284

When measuring currents 1.6A or above (the second gain stage), all 7350s show a random, often large, DC Offset in the third current phase (I3), waveform capture. The defect is only found on 7350 meters and is confined to I3 current phase, waveform capture only.

SCR516: Meter Serial Number must begin with a P

Currently, 73xx's only accept serial numbers beginning with the letter 'P'. To achieve writing serial numbers with 'L, M or X' prefixes, we have utilized the rebranding equipment which uses a direct memory write 'fill' command, instead of the meter write serial number command 'ms'. Ideally, we should update the FW to accept non 'P' serial numbers.

SCR517: Calibration Pulser Module (CAP) produces extra pulses
If the pulse rate is above 2Hz and the input to the calibration pulser module decreases too rapidly, too many pulses are generated and never compensated for. The result is long-term error.
