What can cause an EPFI [External Error] fault on an ATV340 and how do I correct it?
Issue:
Customer is experiencing an EPFI fault on their ATV340 series drive.

Product line:
ATV340

Environment:
All

Cause:
 Event triggered by an wired to a digital input or triggered by a bit via communication network.
 An external error has been triggered via Embedded Ethernet.

Resolution:
Review the External Error assignment in the Error/Warning handling menu.  If EtF [Ext Error Assign} is set to anything other than No:not assigned (default), investigate the assigned input or bit to see what is triggering the External Error.
If EtF is set to No, the EPF1 is triggered due to a communication issue.
Possible causes include:
  • duplicate IP address on the network
  • improper IP address/subnet mask/gateway settings
  • FDR (Fast Device Replacement) error
  • Incorrect Drive configuration when using ODVA assemblies 20/70 or 21/71
Consult the ATV340 Ethernet manual for additional details.
