Can welding cable be used on an ATV630/ATV930 drives?
Issue:
Wanting to use welding cable on a Process drive.

Product Line:
ATV630 ATV930

Environment:
All serial numbers

Cause:
Save money

Resolution:
There is no restriction about using welding cable type, but pay attention to EMC rules and the voltage limit of the cable (welding cable is usually limited to 600V).  If the VFD input voltage is between 380...480 V, then the output voltage of the drive is between 380x1.414 (538V) and 480x1.414 (679V).  So, if the input voltage is greater than 425V, the output voltage will be higher than the recommended voltage of the cable.

If all requirements are respected, then use of welding cable is acceptable.
