Issue:
15 minutes after starting up, completion of UPS FW update or installation of a new IM, the display has an active alarm with the message "Unknown UPS internal error [1502-00B0]".
Product Line:
Smart UPS Modular Ultra
Environment:
All models, all serial numbers, systems where the Main Intelligence Module is running UPS 13.2 or later firmware.
Resolution:
This message occurs when the Main Intelligence Module (MIM) in slot A detects that the firmware in the Redundant Intelligence Module (RIM) in slot B is different from the firmware in the MIM.
This can occur under the following circumstances:
The MIM will automatically attempt to update the firmware in the RIM to match the MIM firmware. This process takes approximately 45 minutes. At the end of the process, the alarm will clear, or the system will indicate that the process failed by updating the message to "Unknown UPS internal error [1504-00B0]".
If RIM firmware does not update after the normalization process, either initiate the UPS firmware upgrade process or replace the RIM
If RIM firmware does not update after the UPS firmware upgrade process, either disable the MIM and initiate the UPS firmware upgrade process with only RIM present or replace the RIM.
Note that NMC/Display firmware versions SUCAN 2.5.1.3 and earlier do not recognize this specific error so it uses the message “Unknown UPS internal error [1502-00B0]”. later versions of the NMC/Display firmware may have a more descriptive alarm message for the user.

This message occurs when the Main Intelligence Module (MIM) in slot A detects that the firmware in the Redundant Intelligence Module (RIM) in slot B is different from the firmware in the MIM.
This can occur under the following circumstances:
- A new system is delivered with a RIM that is incorrectly running different (i.e., UPS 10.8) firmware.
- The RIM of an existing system is replaced with a RIM that is running different firmware.
- A UPS firmware update was initiated but the RIM firmware did not update.
