The 3-year 3S-CS (Standardization Security Synchronization Connected Substation) project is focused on the development of an IEC 61850 global control system for electric substations provided with wireless communications and IoT.
Considering the RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) as relevant element for electrical substations, a set of components will be developed, aiming to improve the efficiency and safety of electrical infrastructures:
- Substation configuration and monitoring tool based on IEC 61850
- RTU acquisition device provided with high accuracy synchronization
- IoT System for electrical substation
- Wireless system for electrical substation
- Safety and threat modeling
- RTU VPN connectivity
The developments will be based on five fundamental pillars:
Standardization, Safety, Synchronization, Wireless Communications and Internet of the Things.
Co-funded by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), Junta de Andalucía, and the European Commission (European Regional Development Fund) under the INNTERCONECTA program (ITC-20161012), this project has a €2.28M budget and lasts from November 2016 to March 2019, taking place in Andalucía.
