Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced that it has become a founding member and leadership-level sponsor of the new Semiconductor Climate Consortium.
The SCC, which consists of companies across the semiconductor value chain, including TSMC, Intel and Samsung, is the first global collaborative of semiconductor companies focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain. The group was set up by SEMI, a leading industry association serving the global electronics design and manufacturing supply chain.
Schneider’s continued commitment to the Paris Agreement and related accords driving the 1.5°C pathway aligns strongly with the aims of the SCC, as it focusses on collaboration, transparency, and ambition to innovate industry solutions with the aim of reaching Net Zero emissions by 2050. This includes publicly reporting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions annually together with fellow industry players.
“We are thrilled to be a founding member and leadership-level sponsor of SEMI’s Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC),” said Olivier Blum, Executive Vice President of Energy Management at Schneider Electric. “The collaboration will see Schneider strengthen its commitment to progressive climate action as it pools resources with other industry players and aligns to develop decarbonization solutions together. We are looking forward to joining with fellow players in the semiconductor value chain to lead the way towards meeting these critical climate goals.”
