Cannot connect to the M580 after installing the USB driver.
Issue
Cannot connect to the M580 after installing the USB driver.

Product Line
Unity, M580

Environment
Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10

Resolution
Connecting to an M580 PLC after installing the USB driver fails.

If you cannot connect to an M580 PLC and the USB driver is installed, try ping the PC's IP address at 90.0.0.2.
A failed ping indicates that the 'SE RNDIS PSX M580 adapter' is either not installed or not properly configure

Note:      At the end of the USB driver installation a command window opens to create the 'SE RNDIS PSX M580 adapter and
assign the IP address of 90.0.0.2 to it.  If something running on the PC interrupts this process or the PC is not rebooted
after installing the USB driver, the network connection might not get properly configured.

To resolve the issue use one of the following two methods:

Method 1:
  • Make sure that only one M580 controller is connected to the PC and there no other controllers (e.g., Momentum Unity, M340) connected to the other USB ports..
  • Open the 'SE RNDIS PSX M580 adapter' TCP/IP poperties window.
  • Set the IP address to 90.0.0.2
  • Set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.

Method 2:
  • Make sure that only one M580 controller is connected to the PC and there no other controllers (e.g., Momentum Unity, M340) connected to the other USB ports.
  • Uninstall the SE RNDis PSX M580 controller with Windows Device Manager (do not delete the driver - just uninstall)
  • Disconnect the M580 from USB port
  • Reconnect M580 to USB port and observe in the Windows Device manager that the 'SE RNDis PSX M580 controller' installation procedure is started.
  • Do not interrupt this procedure (it may take up to several minutes).
  • After the installlation is completed, open a Command prompt Box open
  • Ping the the IP address for SE RNDIS PSX M580 connection.
