Applying changes to the Unitelway driver returns 'Can't reset driver' error.
Issue
Applying changes to the Unitelway driver returns 'Can't reset driver' error.

Product Line
EcoStruxure Control Expert (formerly known as Unity Pro)

Environment
Unity Pro v8.1, Windows 7 Professional

Resolution
If you try to apply the changes made to the Unitelway driver and the NA_Service is not running on the PC, the error 'Can't reset driver' will get returned.
To resolve the issue, log into the PC as an administrator and start the NA_Service:
  • Open a windows folder.
  • Right click on 'Computer'.
  • Select 'Manage'.
  • Click on 'Services and Applications'.
  • Click on 'Services'.
  • Scroll down to find 'NetAccess Service'.
  • Right click on 'NetAccess Service and select Start.
  • The 'Startup Type' should be defined as 'Automatic'.
If the 'Startup Type' is not defined as 'Automatic'.  This is an indication that the user did not have
full adminstrator rights when Unity and the driver was installed or something else (i.e., anti-virus
software, anti-spyware software, etc.) running on the PC prevented the changes to the registry..

To change the 'Startup Type':
  • Right click on 'NetAccess Service' and select 'Properties'.
  • Click on the dropdown arrow next to 'Startup Type'.
  • Select 'Automatic'
  • Click on 'Apply'.
  • Click on 'OK'.
  • Close the 'Computer Management' window.
