Introduction to Schneider Electric in Victoria, BC

Schneider Electric is excited to offer a 4 or 8 month co-op opportunity to join our team in Victoria, BC Canada. In this role, you will contribute in building the next generation of our Advanced Power Metering products such as the ION9000 and PM8000. Our team’s flagship product, the ION9000, won the 2021 Engineers' Choice award! Our Power meters are installed around the world and help organizations measure carbon emissions, reduce their energy consumption, and increase power reliability. As part of our team, you get to contribute to products and solutions that contribute to a better future.

What will you do?

The Embedded Firmware Co-op student will have an opportunity to work with a group of developers, testers, and professional engineers. They will be part of our design team and will help deliver new features and quality enhancements to our products. Generally, this co-op position will focus on product development and testing of our Advanced Metering embedded products, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. This is a collaborative role, working with a team in an agile environment, with activities ranging from test automation, to functional testing and peer reviews. Examples of day-to-day activities include:

  • Working with the team to break down and design features or enhancements.
  • Formulating test strategies and test cases.
  • Coding features, tests, and unit tests in C, C++, and Python.
  • Participating in design and risk analysis considering safety, cyber security, and quality.
  • Helping build our DevOps tools and environments to make the overall team more efficient.

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Currently working towards a degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or relevant experience.
  • Coding and debugging experience, ideally in python.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous Firmware or software testing experience is helpful but not required.

  • The base pay compensation for this full-time position is starting at CAD20.00 per hour for candidates who are B.C. residents.
