Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a Senior Control Engineer (f/m/d) position in our Regensburg, Germany location. This position is part of the Power Systems and Services division, which supports key missions relating to design and development and current/future technological needs.
The purpose of this role is to contribute to development and validation of the “smart converter” technologies that Schneider Electric can provide to its target customers. The selected candidate will be working on the development of Direct-Connected-Modular-Medium-Voltage-Converter control design. The role is part of the technical team at Power Systems and Services,
requiring a strong background in grid interactive power electronics converter control design.
Your To Dos:
- Design, develop, and implement control algorithms for grid-connected power electronics converters, including multilevel converters, EV charging stations, and energy storage systems.
- Conduct simulations and analysis to validate control strategies and optimize converter performance under varying grid conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with power electronics hardware and other system components.
- Lead the development of innovative control techniques and algorithms to enhance converter efficiency, stability, and reliability.
- Provide technical expertise and support for testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting control systems for medium voltage converters. Additionally, interact with colleagues from various disciplines, including tools, backend, frontend, HIL, VHDL, and embedded systems.

Your profile:
- PhD degree in Control Engineering, Power Electronics or a related field
- 7+ years of proven experience in control system design for grid-connected power electronics converters
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or C++ or similar platforms for control algorithm development and validation
- Strong understanding of grid codes, grid synchronization, and power quality requirements for grid-connected systems
- Experience with grid-connected power electronics converters, including multi-level converters, resonant converters, DC/DC converters (desirable)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
