Contracts Review – International Trade Laws and Regulations Governance & Operationalization
We seek a seasoned professional to fill the Contracts Review – International Trade Laws and Regulations Governance & Operationalization role within the Export Control Center of Excellence governed by Ethics and Compliance.
This position will be pivotal in making sure that the contracts with our suppliers, customers, distributors, carriers or customs brokers are compliant with the international trade and sanctions laws and regulations by reviewing key clauses such as Export Control , Incoterms, Contract Termination criteria, or Force Majeure. But not only : the role requires the ability to negotiate these clauses with our suppliers and clients, hence the strong communication skills necessary for this role.
International Trade and Sanctions laws and regulations are at the core of our activity. This requires a daily review of the geopolitical theatre as well as the associated regulatory changes. The Export Control COE has developed and implemented a proven methodology and process in that regard that this role will be in charge of for the EMEA region.
In addition to the review, every change impacting the group will require to be operationalized. This will lead to the development and implementation of the associated process. As part of the role, the process will have to be properly circulated, communicated and embedded into the business’ organization, fully adjusted to the operations and business units’ needs. This will require the education of the main stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contracts review: Schneider Electric has developed a set of Export Control Clause templates that can be used as a basis of negotiation with its customers, suppliers and distributors. Bid Managers, Sales, Legal counsels regularly require the Export Control Governance assistance in the review of contracts and discussions / negotiations with its customers, suppliers and distributors. In this role, the Senior Export Control Manager must ensure that the clause suggested by the two parties is feasible, compliant and protects the group from international trade related risks.
- International Trade and Sanctions laws and Regulations update: The Senior Export Control Manager is in charge of identifying and reviewing the laws and regulations that would impact Schneider Electric’s business. These laws are related to Export Control and International Sanctions. The review is embedded into a specific process developed by the Export Control COE which this role is part of (daily review, weekly update, monthly communication, operationalization of the change).
- Operationalization of new EMEA regulatory requirements : understand the impact on Schneider Electric – develop and implement the associated process – assist / accompany the business in the operationalization of the law. This requires a strong background in Export Control Laws and Regulations, analytics skills, business acumen, communication and educational skills. The objective is to ensure that the regulatory requirement is quickly and efficiently implemented in and by the impacted business.
You have :
- Master II Degree in law (International Trade, or Business Law or Corporate Law)
- 10-15 years of experience in export control, with a strong background in process management, procedures, and contracts review.
- Demonstrated experience in managing export control operations
- Proficiency in European languages, with exceptional English and legal vocabulary proficiency. French language is a plus.
- Previous experience in export control operations is advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the agility to adapt to evolving regulatory landscapes.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and execute strategies effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Willingness to travel, up to 3 or 4 times per quarter.
